The Mood Disorders Center
has created this privacy statement in order to
demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. This statement discloses the
privacy practices for the MDOC Web site.
The MDOC is committed to promoting the health and welfare of persons
who suffer mental illness. Part this responsibility is through promoting
the principles of disclosure and informed consent.
As part of this goal we will endeavor to inform visitors about:

At MDOC, we intend to give you as much control as possible over your
personal information. In general, you can visit the Mood Disorders Center
on the Web without telling us who you are or revealing any information
about yourself. There are times, however, when we may need information
from you, such as your name and address. It is our intent to let you know
before we collect personal information from you on the Internet.
If you choose to give us personal information via the Internet that we
may need -- to correspond with you, or collect survey data -- it is our
intent to let you know how we will use such information. Please note that
any information sent to us through the Internet is not confidential. If
you tell us that you do not wish to have this information used as a basis
for further contact with you, we will respect your wishes. We do keep
track of the domains from which people visit us. We analyze this data for
trends and statistics, and then we discard it.

Research projects
involving human subjects conducted by the MDOC are approved by the Baylor
College of Medicine Institutional Review Board (IRB). The research may
also be reviewed by review boards of affiliated institutions. The purpose
of the IRB is ensuring that the highest ethical and professional standards
are maintained in research practice.
Each research project has its own process of informed consent for
subjects. Participation in all MDOC related research is always voluntary.
